Film Screening – Georgia O’Keefe: The Brightness of Light

March 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Directed by Paul Wagner, narrated by Hugh Dancy, and Claire Danes as the voice of Georgia O’Keeffe, join us to watch this captivating new documentary featuring the Des Moines Art Center’s painting “From the Lake No. 1” (1924). “Georgia O’Keeffe: the Brightness of Light” is a 2-hour film exploring the life and art of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century – the ”Mother of Modernism.” From her early years in the Midwest to her rise in New York’s vibrant art world, and finally to the remote deserts of New Mexico, this documentary traces the evolution of an artist whose work blurred the line between abstraction and realism. O’Keeffe’s enduring influence on modernism, her bold defiance of artistic conventions, and her life in the vast solitude of the Southwest are brought to life in this rich, meditative journey.
