Join Des Moines Metro Opera as the organization celebrates the opening of its 2024 Festival Season! The Opera Gala promises to be an elegant evening featuring a cocktail hour followed by a plated meal highlighted by performances from mainstage artists. The celebration continues with dancing following the program.

This year’s Opera Gala takes place in one of downtown Des Moines’ most iconic buildings­­—the Ruan Center. The 1975 building stands 140 meters tall, and was the tallest building in Iowa until the completion of 801 Grand in 1991. The Ruan Center was named one of the 50 Most Significant Iowa Buildings of the 20th Century by the Iowa chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
